She specialises in bacterial infections, antibiotic resistance and the correct use of antibiotics. She heads up the Antibiotic Therapy Reference Centre for the PACA region. She is also responsible at the University Hospital for an innovative approach to care and treatment: Integrative Medicine, which combines traditional care with non-medicinal practices that have been validated by science, with the aim of improving patient satisfaction, enhancing the care relationship, individualising care and patient autonomy, and limiting the harmful effects of care and medication and the consumption of resources. It also looks at the impact of our environment on health, from air quality and chemical pollutants to ultra-processed food.
What are we exposed to every day and how does this impact on our health?
The exposome is the totality of exposures to which an individual is subjected from conception to death. It is a complex and dynamic representation of exposures, incorporating the chemical, microbiological, physical, recreational and medicinal environments, lifestyle, diet and infections. Most chronic diseases are due to this exposome, the genetic component of our diseases being low. Environmental factors have a complex effect on the onset of disease, but fortunately, even if there are still many unknown factors, many of these factors have a direct impact on the development of chronic diseases.
