The secret world of our arteries. A journey to the frontiers of physiology and pathology
Every day, our arteries carry more than 7,000 litres of blood to supply our organs. This network of living pipes, essential to our survival, lives hidden deep within our bodies. The diseases that affect them, in particular atherosclerosis, are the leading cause of illness and death, along with cancer, in industrialised countries. We know more and more about the normal functioning of our arteries and the causes of their disease. Thanks to new study techniques and therapeutic discoveries, the limits of cardiovascular disease have been pushed back, even if many challenges remain. This presentation will share with you the latest knowledge that has emerged in recent decades, and its place in vascular disease and its treatment.
